Learn how to effectively manage hoarding cases

Monday 10th February 2025 9.30am – 4.30pm GMT

This one day course is available to practitioners who work in a multi-agency setting with people who live in a Hoarded Home. Whilst it is not mandatory for the learner to have completed the CPD Hoarding Awareness Course the learner is expected to have good knowledge of this very complex condition.

Each hoarding case is unique and the support that can be provided will be tailored to the challenges of an individual situation. You will learn more about this, along with the complexities of hoarding, throughout the course. The focus is very much on Supportive Intervention, how to adopt a strength-based approach, harness strengths and weaknesses within a multi-agency setting whilst mitigating the risks of enforced action and/or homelessness.

This course will enable learners to fully understand how to manage a hoarding case effectively covering but not limited to:

  • Clarity of Role & Responsibilities
  • What agencies should be involved? How to challenge
  • When there is inaction by agencies
  • Risk and how to mitigate this
  • Impact
  • Support – What should this look like?
  • Enforcement
  • Aftercare

Using a powerpoint, videos & exercises of people who hoard, delegates will be encouraged to participate during the event, either by taking part in discussions, asking questions of the trainer(s) & other delegates along with pre course reading and exercises.
