Whilst many people might think of themselves as ‘hoarders’, for most the trait doesn’t actually do any harm. But for a few, it reaches extremes that can affect their health, even put their lives at risk.
It is thought to affect at least 2% of the population, tending to be older but from wide range of socioeconomic, racial, and educational backgrounds.
At present in the UK there is no help
for sufferers.
Clouds End has been formed to address this problem – working firstly with hoarders themselves in their homes but also with social services, housing associations, landlords, Primary Care Trusts (PCT’s) and anyone who comes into contact with hoarding situations that are creating problems.
We are non-judgemental in our approach and work directly with the client developing new sorting and discarding strategies with them.
Acquisition of, and failure to use or discard, a large number of seemingly useless items that render living spaces sufficiently cluttered, precluding activities for which spaces were designed.
